The Company

Helping organizations see, connect, and control every aspect of their most complex projects.

Nearly every modern business depends on numerous software applications for its daily operations. But most businesses particularly in non-technical fields such as construction, manufacturing, retail, and agriculture lack the in-house coding resources to build the processes or applications that could connect their disparate data sources and unlock valuable business intelligence. That’s where Quickbase comes in.

The world’s leading no-code operational agility platform, Quickbase empowers citizen developers”— offering a solution so intuitive and user-friendly that it allows anyone to visualize company data, gain real-time insights, and automate processes across multiple systems.

The Challenges

Decentralized product-team content, with data siloed and scattered across many applications.

Ventsi Tasev, Group Product Manager responsible for Quickbase’s governance-related solutions, points out that product team members throughout the fast-growing organization had difficulty gaining a companywide view of all product-related information.

“Key data on all our investments was stored in disconnected pieces across many applications,” Ventsi explains. “If you wanted the full picture of how we were deploying product resources across the company, or where the organization stood in terms of upcoming capabilities, you’d have to know exactly where to go, and whom to ask, to pull those pieces of data together.”

All of our key data—backlog, roadmap, tasks, evidence supporting our strategies—was in a different app. Craft.io lets us keep it all in one place.

The Solution

Unifying all product-related content in the Craft.io platform.

When Quickbase rolled out the Craft.io product management solution, Ventsi explains, the company finally had a single source of truth for product information—a centralized digital hub to monitor, update, and share everything from high-level product strategy to daily tactical progress across teams.

“With Craft.io, all of our product information is now accessible in one place, which someone can open at any point and see the full story of our product organization’s progress, or whichever components of that story they wish to focus on,” says Ventsi.

The Results

Consolidating and standardizing product data has resulted in numerous strategic and tactical benefits.

As Ventsi notes, consolidating Quickbase’s product content company-wide in a unified digital workspace has led to several significant operational improvements.

Improved visibility into product strategy, plans, and objectives

With product teams throughout the company collaborating in Craft.io, Ventsi says, everyone—the product organization, development teams, and the executive staff—has easy access to the full picture of Quickbase’s product progress. And just as important, he notes, is the fact that the product team can share this information in whichever way best suits their audience.

“Craft.io is so flexible that we can easily present our content using the most appropriate views and levels of detail for specific stakeholders. For our development meetings, we might choose the Table view to discuss what’s open, in progress, and complete. But for our leadership presentations, we’ll use the Roadmapping view to focus on the high-level strategy.”

The ability to tell the strategic story with supporting evidence

Before Craft.io, Ventsi explains, providing evidence to the leadership team in a strategic presentation often undermined the momentum—because the PM would have to stop, bring up a different app (or multiple apps), and walk the exec through the data separately before returning to the strategic plan document.

“With Craft.io, now we have our supporting evidence right there, accessible within one click, as we’re walking our execs through our product strategy. Now those data points build on our momentum in those meetings, rather than undermine it because we can even pull up the evidence proactively and seamlessly before anyone asks to see them.”

Better planning and forecasting

One of the biggest strategic advantages of Craft.io, explains Ventsi, is the ability to easily build and share an up-to-date live product roadmap with teams across the organization. This helps tremendously, he notes, with strategic planning, prioritization, and allocating resources.

“For the first time ever, we have an always-updated plan of record covering the next several quarters, which anyone across the company can view anytime. I can’t tell you how valuable this is in terms of keeping everyone on the same page strategically and giving us all a single source of truth about what’s underway and what our teams have committed to delivering.”

Craft.io lets us create transparency for anyone who wants to know what we’re doing and why. That helps us align our teams and operate more efficiently and with more purpose than ever.
