A roadmap is an input to other people’s plans, so when it changes, their plans change with it. Some of those changes call for a decision, and they have to reach the right people in time. Actual vs Planned keeps the plan you agreed to, and shows everyone exactly what changed against it.
A plan is a snapshot of your roadmap with a start and an end date, locked the moment you create it. The roadmap carries on changing. The plan does not. Everything added, dropped or changed since then is marked right on the item.
Every item that changed shows how many of its fields did. Open a field and its history appears as a log or a line chart. Read the same plan three ways: where things stand today, what became of the original, or its close against its start. Steer the quarter while it runs, and learn from it once it has closed.
Actual vs Planned does more than show what changed. It analyzes the plan and surfaces insights about everything that could affect its success: what is at risk, what is running late, and what has quietly stopped moving while nobody was watching.
