How Korial Uses Craft.io to Turn Jira Execution into Strategic Product Visibility

About Korial

Korial (formerly Energy Robotics) develops industrial software that enables autonomous robots to operate reliably in industrial environments. As the company scaled its product organization, Jira remained the system where development work happened, but the product team needed a better way to connect execution with strategic planning and communication.

The Challenge

Like many product organizations, Korial relied heavily on Jira for day-to-day delivery management.

While Jira provided a solid foundation for execution, it became increasingly difficult to create roadmap views that could serve different audiences across the organization. Product owners needed detailed delivery visibility, while leadership required a more strategic view of company priorities, initiatives, and long-term objectives.

The team also wanted a better way to connect roadmap planning with broader business goals without introducing additional administrative overhead.

Building a Strategic Layer Above Jira

Korial adopted Craft.io as a strategic planning layer on top of its existing Jira environment.

Rather than replacing Jira, the team synchronized execution data into Craft.io and used it to create structured roadmap views, organize work under objectives and initiatives, and communicate plans at different levels of abstraction.

For Mirko Weidner, one of the biggest advantages was the ability to start from a single source of truth while tailoring the view to the audience.

I take everything that Jira has and then condense the views and the timeline to focus on specific content, specific objectives or initiatives.

This allowed the product organization to move seamlessly between detailed delivery discussions and higher-level strategic conversations without maintaining multiple disconnected planning tools.

From Technical Delivery to Strategic Communication

One of the areas where Craft.io created the most value was stakeholder communication.

Using objectives, initiatives, filtering, and roadmap views, Korial gained the ability to present product plans in a way that was meaningful for leadership while still remaining connected to the underlying delivery work.

Instead of navigating hundreds of Jira items, the team could quickly surface the initiatives that mattered most, understand what was planned next, and communicate progress against company goals.

Mirko regularly uses Craft.io to review strategic initiatives, discuss priorities with stakeholders, and understand how individual projects contribute to larger business outcomes.

Creating Visibility Across Different Levels

A key requirement for the team was the ability to view work at multiple levels of detail.

Some conversations require a company-wide perspective focused on major objectives and initiatives. Others require visibility into individual teams, projects, and dependencies.

Craft.io enabled Korial to create both views from the same underlying dataset.

This flexibility helped the team maintain alignment between strategy and execution while reducing the effort required to prepare roadmap presentations and planning discussions.

Looking Ahead

As the relationship with Craft.io continues to evolve, Korial is exploring additional ways to extend the value of the platform.

Areas currently under evaluation include capacity planning across engineering disciplines, feedback management workflows, and leveraging Craft.io’s MCP capabilities to build customized experiences on top of their product data.

Results

Today, Craft.io serves as the bridge between strategic planning and execution at Korial.

By building on top of Jira rather than replacing it, the team gained a way to organize work around objectives, communicate priorities more effectively, and create roadmap views that support both operational planning and executive decision-making.

My goal is always to ideally see everything that I want to see on one screen.
